Overview

Summary/objective

The Staff Accountant position will report to the Accounting Manager. The individual will be responsible for daily accounting operations, accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
  • Prepare and send special reports
  • Abide by the company’s system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Assisting the accounting manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience, preferably with a major company or division of a large corporation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Salesforce and Financial Force proficiency a plus
  • WorkDay proficiency a plus
  • Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to follow-through to completion
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast pace environment, demonstrating a sense of urgency
  • Professional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise

This role has no supervisory responsibilities

 

Work environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers.

 

Physical demands

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 5 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.

 

Travel required

This position may require up to 10% travel. Occasionally travel is outside the local area and overnight.
